Hattiesburg, MS - A technology startup company from Hattiesburg recently received a best poster award at The Society of Cosmetic Chemists Supplier’s Day meeting in Long Island, New York. SciGenesis, LLC has developed a proprietary camouflage face paint technology for military applications. The face paint is unique in that it is capable of reflecting extreme temperatures and can protect soldiers skin from being burned for up to 3 seconds after an explosion.
Representing SciGenesis at the poster session was Michelle McCluskey, a graduate student at The University of Southern Mississippi and part-time employee of SciGenesis. “We are very proud to have been honored with a best poster award,” said McCluskey. “This event is attended by some of the world’s best researchers and scientists in the cosmetics and formulation science industries.”

The event was attended by 350 people, and included representatives from the world’s largest personal care product companies including Proctor & Gamble, Estee Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, and Croda. The Supplier’s Day event is designed to bring experts together from industry and academia.
Discussion topics during the conference included new technology in dermatology, hair growth, and other personal care products. In total, there were 11 posters at the student poster session, with The University of Southern Mississippi representing 6 of these posters.
